  • 3-4 herring a'la matjas fillets Lisner
  • 2 white onions
  • 6 tablespoons of rapeseed oil
  • 1 bay leaf
  • red pepper
  • allspice

Method of preparation

Method of preparation

  1. Before preparing the recipe, soak the herring in cold water, preferably for about 2 hours. Change the water three times during this time, then rinse them thoroughly. If you prefer your herring to have a more salty taste, skip this point.
  2. Cut the herring into strips about 2 cm wide.
  3. Cut the onion into feathers.
  4. Place herring with sliced onion, pour oil over and add bay leaves, red pepper, allspice. Set aside in the fridge for min. 2 hours.
  5. Season with freshly ground pepper to taste.
